How to Edit Your Profile Section (Image, Name & Bio)

Your profile section is the top of your page: your image, your name and your bio. It is what loads first and what a visitor judges the page on.

1. Log in, open My Pages and click the page you want to edit

2. Click your profile image to open Edit Profile

3. Use the Image, Name and Bio tabs

4. Save

The same controls are under Customize › Advanced › Header, which is the better route when you are already adjusting the rest of the page.

• Upload a square image where possible. By default it is displayed as a circle, so anything important near the corners gets cropped.

• JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 5 MB.

• Video is supported as a profile media on Pro and Premium, MP4 only and also capped at 5 MB.

Name

• Type the name you want shown, which does not have to match your handle.

• Set its size and alignment on the same tab.

• Colour is free on every plan. Using an image in place of a typed name is the part that needs Pro, since the free way to have a name is to type one.

What to get right

• A face reads better than a logo at the size this renders on a phone.

• Keep the whole section short. Everything here pushes your links down. A big image, a large name and a three-line bio can fill a phone screen on its own.

• Check it against your background. A profile image with a white edge on a white background disappears.

Common questions

My profile image looks cropped.

On the Circle layout it is cropped to a circle, so upload a square image with the subject centred. Square, Large and Hero crop differently, and all three need Pro.

Can my name be different from my handle?

Yes. Your handle is your address, your name is display text, and they are independent.

Why can I not upload a profile video?

Profile media needs Pro or Premium, and video has to be MP4 under 5 MB.

I am on a free plan and already have media set. Can I remove it?

Yes. Media that is already on your page can always be removed, even where adding new media would need Pro.

Does changing my name change my URL?

No. Your URL comes from your handle. See Change Your hoo.be Handle.
